Possibly my single favorite—most memorable, at the very least—read in 2011 was a short fiction by James Bridle from the POV of a man in a transcription shop.

And as the bell of this year begins its toll, Bridle slides an xmas gift down the rss chute: an ekphrasis of the Met’s three (not-so-great) Caravaggios.

I’m sincerely glad he was able to visit our fair city this fall and exhume its treasures.
